Scuba diving has to be the greatest outdoor water sport in terms of expanding your reality. It is literally like discovering a whole new world or planet. Once you get hooked, scuba diving can become incredibly addictive because there are endless dive sites around the globe offering incredible aquatic and coral diversity. Every dive is different from what species of fish, crustaceans, and cetaceans you see to the depth of the dive and even the artifacts you engage such as sunken ships. It truly opens your eyes to the microcosms that exist despite us, and how our awareness of our inter connectivity to them is critical to the survival and health of the undersea world.

NAUI Certification Overview

Scuba diving certification is a necessary and important course that teaches you all the scuba theory as well as the hands on practice of open water scuba diving. Without it you will not be able to dive and it is not recommended to take any risks otherwise. The first step to getting certified is watching the training video and completing the NAUI workbook. With the completion of the workbook you can begin the hands on part of the process. You will learn the basic functions of your equipment and be able to identify the different components that allow for safe diving. At this point you will start out using your equipment in a swimming pool to become familiar with its use. When you begin to trust the equipment and feel comfortable using it and your instructor feels that you have a firm grasp on the fundamentals you will then have your first dive in the open water. After a two day open water dive and if all went well you will then receive Entry Level Certification. Once your become certified you will be able to rent and purchase equipment around the world. The next step in certification will teach you advanced open water diving. This includes boat dives and night dives along with many other advanced skills. When you become a Certified Advanced Open Water Diver you can begin becoming a certified master diver where you can use your specialty skills to dive wrecks and caves and even under frozen lakes known as ice diving. These certifications are not easy to get, it takes time, dedication and lots of experience to be known as a Certified NAUI Master Diver.
